Digital world on a chip – fotoworld

November 15, 2007 · By Gert Franz · No Comments

The german digital imaging portal Chip Fotoworld has been redesigned and lifted from Coldfusion MX 7.0 to Railo 2.0 Professional.

"The main reason for the relaunch with Railo was the tremendous gain in performance we observed when delivering dynamic content. This is very important since the site mostly lives from user generated content." sais one of the responsible project managers at Chip. "Although we only had two weeks for the porting the application driven by the CMS Sitefusion 3.5 (NBSP, Germany) we can call the relaunch a big success. Given the 3,000,000 hits per day we experience almost no issues with the platform. Railo offered us the possibility of increasing the complexity and the actuality of the content by boosting the performance and keeping the site execution times to low figures."

Next to the staging server the live site is hosted on a W2K3 server cluster with 3 web/application servers and a database cluster. Railo runs on Tomcat 6.1 and uses IIS 6.0 for the webserver.
