There are two ways on how Railo can be updated. The first and easy one is done by entering the Railo Server Administrator, which can normally be reached with the link http://yourdomainname/railo-context/admin/server.cfm. In the Server Administrator navigate to the menu entry: Services / Update.
If a patch for your currently installed version is available, just hit the "execute update" button and wait till the login screen reappears. What Railo will do in the background is, that it will download the patch, install it and restart the engine.
You can even have Railo do the updates automatically. When you select "Automatic" in the Type dropdown, Railo will once a day check whether there is a new version of Railo and if there is one, automatically download and install it.
Manual update
Sometimes your server does not have internet access. In these cases you need to update Railo manually. Just follow the steps below in order to execute the update:
- Download the patch from the following URL: htp://www.railo.ch/railo/remote/download/3.0.x.xxx/3.0.x.xxx.railo
The link depends on the current released version and the location where you want to download it from. So it might be preview.railo.ch for nightly builds or previews or similar, or www.railo.ch for official releases. - Locate the server context directory of Railo.
Normally it is located inside the lib folder of the Railo root installtion folder. There you'll find a "railo-server/patches" folder. Inside you'll see all patches that have been applied to your current Railo installation. - Copy the downloaded file inside this folder
- Restart Railo
