Railo 3.3.1.007 and Comment Metadata

December 20, 2011 · By Gert Franz · 9 Comments

Normally in patch releases we do not introduce new functionality. Except if they don't affect the runtime behaviour of Railo Server. With the latest release of Railo Server (3.3.1.007) we have introduced two new features I would like to present in more detail.

Railo Server software archive now online

December 13, 2011 · By Paul Klinkenberg · No Comments

Screenshot of the Previous Versions pageIf you've ever updated Railo, you probably found it very easy to do with our one-click install. Just click the update button on the Server admin and you're done! And if you need to remove an installed update, you can easily uninstall the latest (or all) patches with just a few more clicks.

But what if you need to install version 3.2.2.000, or 3.1.2.001, because that's what your client runs on? Or perhaps you'd like to test how much faster Railo Server became between version 1.0 and 3.3?

Well today, we are happy to announce the Railo Server archive, where you can find versions of Railo Server going all the way back to Railo 1.0! The archive is not yet complete, but almost all main versions and all release candidates for 3.3 are now online and downloadable!

Check it out at http://www.getrailo.org/index.cfm/download/olderversions/

Michael Hnat joins Railo

November 23, 2011 · By Michael Hnat · No Comments

We are very proud to announce a new member of the Railo Technologies team; Michael Hnat!

Why don't we let him introduce himself:

Hello, My name is Michael Hnat and I am really delighted to be part of the Railo core team. I will be responsible for sales and customer support in Germany and Austria and I am already looking forward to this exciting role appointed to me by Railo Technologies.

In my younger days I already started programming on the legendary Commodore 64 and Amiga, and I have always tried to convert my hobby into a career.
At Siemens, I was trained as a software developer and was employed as a programmer for 4th Dimension.

After a few years I came into contact with Allaire ColdFusion (version 4 back then) the first time and knew instantly that this was the language I wanted to program with in the future.

In 1998 I started my own business and built many exciting projects with lots of interesting customers.

I switched to Railo Server with the first version and I remember a very interesting CFUG Germany meeting in the Schlosszelt in Munich where Railo Server was firstly presented officially to a group of CF programmers. Beside my programming tasks I started the hosting for several customers on Railo. It has definitely been the right decision.

At the CFCamp 2008 already several users tried Railo Server and were able to see a new version.
This year I organized the CFCamp Conference in Munich. A really great event with 100 people and very good sessions.

Taking over sales and support in Germany and Austria is a really exciting challenge for me since I now am able to sell what I believe in for a while now.

So if you are in Germany or Austria and you have any questions about Railo Server or how Railo Technologies can help you, just contact me at michael.h@getrailo.com.

I'm really looking forward for my new role at Railo and hope you'll come and see us at the CFCamp 2012 or at a conference near you!

Best regards,
Michael

Pivot tables with Railo - CFPIVOTTABLE

November 09, 2011 · By Gert Franz · 6 Comments

For one of our clients we often need to process data in Railo returned by a query and reorganize them in a Pivot-Table like fashion. Normally what you have to do is to group queries by recurring values and sum them up depending on the values in the fields.

Railo Administrator translations

October 26, 2011 · By Gert Franz · No Comments

The Railo administrators are available in English and German so far. It is pretty easy to translate the admin and use a different language pack. Tomoaki Tanaka kindly provided a Japanese translation for the admin. We will create a space on our download section that will have several language files for download.

Read more about it in Tanaka's blog.
